koziol's original cheese grater was crowned by a high-caliber jury commissioned by the German pro K Industrial Association for Semi-Finished and Consumer Products in Plastic (pro-K Industrieverband Halbzeuge und Konsumprodukte aus Kunststoff e.V.). A total of 18 products were honored in nine different categories. All of the award-winning products will be on display from February 11-15 at the world's largest consumer goods fair, the Frankfurt Ambiente, where they are showcased in their own exhibition: "2011 Products of the
Year" (Hall 5.1, Stand B91).
"This award makes us especially happy," commented company owner Stephan Koziol. "The amount of technical ingenuity that has gone into this little hedgehog is not obvious to non-professionals at first glance. Our focus for this grater was on combining a fun design with the outstanding characteristics of plastic for maximum functionality. To achieve this, we were prepared to spend more than a year on its development." The result is not only highly appealing to the eye; it also delivers a peak performance.
The design for the grater was created by the Belgian studio Pink Eye based in Antwerp. The technical
development and realization of the final form and functionality were the work of the engineers, technicians
and designers at koziol.
For the past 30 years, the distinction "Product of the Year" has been awarded to new products made of plastic
that stand out by virtue of their creative impact and innovative functionality. The products are submitted to
and judged by a jury comprised of independent experts: representatives from the fields of industry and
commerce, consumer organizations and the trade press.
